There are many heart attack signs that can give you early warning of a heart attack. Before we discuss heart attack signs, let's first define what a heart attack is.

What is a heart attack?

A heart attack occurs when the blood flow cannot get to critical parts of the heart due to some blockage.

What is a cardiac arrest?

A cardiac arrest is simply when the heart stops beating. Some heart attacks result in cardiac arrests but some heart attacks do not.

If early heart attack signs are recognized and proper medical help sought immediately, the chances of a cardiac arrest is substantially reduced. When someone is displaying heart attack signs, you should call 911 immediately. The difference of knowing the early heart attack signs and calling for help early could be a matter of life and death.



What are the early warning heart attack signs?

Early warning heart attack signs are:

  • Uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing, or pain the in the chest lasting more than a few minutes. The pain may go away temporary but will return equally as painful if not more painful.
  • The pain often spreads to the shoulders, neck, jaw or arms.
  • People suffering from a heart attack will feel chest discomfort and light headed which often lead to fainting.
  • Sweating, nausea and vomiting are common.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Apprehension, anxiety and despondence.
  • Many heart attack victims-to-be are in denial about their condition.
